We have a Blue bird box all but 1 bird has left. It has been 2 days since the others have left. Suggestions?
We have a Blue bird box. 5 eggs hatched. All but 1 bird has left the nest. It has been 2 days since the 4 birds left the nest. 1 bird still remains. Not sure what to do.
There can be a few things going on..either the chick is still not ready to fledge and is being fed by the parents. Or, the parents may not be feeding it as they are tending to the other chicks that have already left the nest. Hopefully, the chick will leave the nest soon and join the others. It could also be that it has already left the nest and it returnig to the nest as a place to roost because it feels safe there. Watch the box from an area where the adults cannot see you to check if they are indeed tending to their chick. It may be a while between feedings, and you will have to watch continually as not to miss a visit from the parents. I suspect they are still tending to it as it would probably not have lasted 2 days without food.
